Gramvousa - Balos

Our journey starts in the morning from Rethymno and we will be heading to the port of Kissamos, where the cruise boat will take us around the coast to the natural wonder. You will be fascinated by the views of the historic island of Gramvusa with the Venetian castle atop and by the beauty of the crystal-clear waters of the Balos lagoon with a spectrum of turquoise hues.

On the Gramvusa you will have the opportunity to go for a short hike to the top of the castle which sits at approximately 130m above the sea. Or you can choose to remain at the beach and enjoy swimming or snorkeling around the island.

The beauty of the lagoon of Balos will astonish you with its exotic white and sometimes pinkish sand due to the shells crushed by the waves against the rocks, vivid turquoise waters and the shallow warm sea will be ideal for families with children. There are also deeper waters for swimming and snorkeling and be sure to take a short walk up the stairs to get a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire lagoon.
